Bringing Characters to Life

Hi! I’m Cat Stankewick, an aspiring costume designer and wardrobe team member passionate about bringing stories and characters to life through visual storytelling.

My love for theatre started in high school, where I had the opportunity to explore many different sides of production, from set design and stage management to hair, makeup, and costumes. Those experiences taught me that some of my favorite parts of theatre happen behind the scenes by taking an idea from the page and turning it into something an audience can see, feel, and connect with.

I am currently pursuing my BFA in Production Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where I continue to develop my skills in costume, wardrobe, and visual storytelling. My experience has included designing costumes, assisting with hair and makeup, dressing performers, managing quick changes, running fittings, constructing and repairing costume pieces, and coordinating wardrobe for productions.

I particularly love costumes because they can reveal who a character is before they even say a word. Color, silhouette, texture, period, and small details can all tell a story. Whether I am designing a complete look, making a last-minute repair, or helping an actor get ready for a quick change, I enjoy being part of the process that helps performers step fully into their characters.

Alongside my creative work, I have developed a strong appreciation for collaboration and organization. From leading teams on an SCADPro project with Universal Creative to running fittings for more than 200 performers, I have learned how important communication, flexibility, and problem-solving are in a production environment.
My goal is to create work that feels intentional, tells a story, and helps bring a production's overall vision together. I am always looking for opportunities to learn, collaborate, and take on new creative challenges.
